  • On 15th February, 2017, The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the signing of Air Services Agreement between India and Rwanda.
  • The Agreement has the potential to spur greater trade, investment, tourism and cultural exchange between India and Rwanda.
  • It will provide environment for enhanced and seamless connectivity while providing commercial opportunities to the carriers of both the sides ensuring greater safety and security.
  • Air service agreement is an agreement which two nations sign to allow international commercial air transport services between their territories.
  • The bilateral system has its basis under the Chicago convention signed in December 1944 and associated multilateral treaties.
  • Rwanda is an African country which shares its border with Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda and Congo Republic.
