  • On 25 May 2016 The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has sanctioned Rs 10,736 crore for the improvement of infrastructure in various areas of the railway projects.
  • Among the five project three are for doubling railway line and two are for laying 3rd line.
  • The five projects are:
  • Project for doubling of 180.77 km Roza -Sitapur Cantt.- Burhwal Broad Gauge single line. The completion period of the project will be five years.
  • Doubling of 467 km Pune-Miraj-Londa railway line project .The completion period of the project will be five years.
  • Project for doubling of 116.17 km Surendranagar-Rajkot project .The completion period of the project will be four years.
  • Vizianagaram and Titlagarh third line project of 264.6 km.The completion period will be five years.
  • Bina-Katni 3rd line project of the 278.7 km long railway line is expected to be completed in five years.
  • Recently Railway has allowed the passenger to cancel confirmed train tickets booked at counters through phone call or SMS to 139 and claim refund for the same.
