  • On 3 June 2016 the Union Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar launched Asia’s first Gyps Vulture Reintroduction Programme, along with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, at Pinjore.
  • They jointly released two Himalayan Griffons into the wild from the Jatayu Conservation Breeding Centre, Pinjore.
  • This Centre is first of its kind in Asia, which is a major contributor to the conservation of endangered species. It is located in Bir Shikargah Wildlife Sanctuary.
