  • On 12 May 2016 President Pranab Mukherjee in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of article 124 of the Constitution of India has appointed four Judges in the Supreme Court of India.
  • The list include the names of Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar, Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court; Dr. Justice Dhananjaya Yashwant Chandrachud, Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court; Justice Ashok Bhushan, Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court and senior advocate of supreme court L. Nageswar Rao.
  • The appointments will take the judicial strength in the Supreme Court to 29 from the present 25.
  • It should be known that the sanctioned strength of judges in the Supreme Court is 31, including the Chief Justice of India.
