- This agreement will help the major institutions of India to establish supercomputing infrastructure with assembly and manufacturing for the National Supercomputing Mission in the country.
- The mission is being implemented and steered jointly by the DST and the Department of Electronics and Information Technology for seven years.
- The objective is to make India one of the world leaders in supercomputing.
- According to an official statement this is the Rs 4,500-crore mission envisages empowering our national academic and R&D institutions spread over the country.
- Under this mission by a vast supercomputing grid comprising more than 70 high-performance computing facilities will be installed.
- It also includes the development of highly professional High-Performance Computing (HPC) aware human resource for meeting the challenges of development of these applications.
