  • On 01 February 2017 India and Sri Lanka signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to construct a new multi-ethnic tri-lingual secondary school in Polonnaruwa District.
  • High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and Secretary to the Ministry of Education Sunil Hettiarachchi signed the MoU in Colombo.
  • The School will be constructed using a grant of Rs. 300 million from the Government of India.
  • The project envisages construction of class rooms, laboratories and library, as well as procurement of furniture and other equipment.
  • The school would provide opportunities to Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim students to learn in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural environment.
