- On June 6th, 2018, the Union Cabinet apprised of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in April, 2018, between India and Britain on technical cooperation in the field of continuous urban development.
- Its aim is to provide institutional support and strengthen the two countries in the field of sustainable urban development.
- In the areas of cooperation Development of smart cities, solid waste management, environmentally friendly affordable housing, waste water management, capacity building in urban institutions, skill development in urban areas, urban mobility, intellectual transport system and change centric development, innovation in financial access and other related fields are included.
- Under this MoU, an India-UK joint working group will be constituted.
- This work group will formulate strategies and programs on cooperation in the ambit of the Memorandum of Understanding.
