- The three-day (12—14 April,2016) 3rd Asia Ministerial Conference on Tiger Conservation was organised in New Delhi
- This conference was co-organized by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, National Tiger Conservation Authority, Global Tiger Forum, Global Tiger Initiative Council, Wildlife Institute of India, WWF and Wildlife Conservation Trust.
- The meeting was attended by the representatives of four Tiger Range countries (TRCs) – Bhutan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Russia, besides senior officers of the Ministry, including Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Joint Secretary, East, Ministry of External Affairs.
- The Kyrgyz Republic and Kazakhstan, having ranges of Snow Leopard have also participated in the conference.
- The conference was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on April 12, 2016.
- More than 700 tiger experts, scientists, managers, donors and other stakeholders have participated to discuss issues related to tiger conservation.
- At the Global Tiger Summit at St. Petersburg held in 2010, range countries committed to double the tiger number by 2022.
- The countries also adopted the Global/National Tiger Recovery Programme.
- This was the third conference with the earlier ones being held at Hua Hin, Thailand (2010) and Thimpu, Bhutan (2012), besides the Tiger Summit at St Petersburg in 2010.
- On the last day of the conference seven-point “New Delhi Resolution on Tiger Conservation” was passed.
