- The theme of this conference is “Mobility for All”.
- The main theme of this year’s conference is “Mobility for All” which focuses on providing equitable access and promote inclusive urban transportation which aims to provide affordable, clean, safe, informative, efficient and accessible transport systems, with special attention to the diverse needs from all factions of the society, especially the specially-abled, elderly, women and children.
- It was inaugurated by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
- Awarded to the winning states/cities for ‘Excellence in Urban Transport’ on the occasion.
- The primary objective of the conference is to disseminate information to the cities whose officials participate in the conference to help them stay updated with the latest and best urban transport practices globally.
- The event brings together national and international experts, technology and service providers, policy-makers, businesses and executives from the urban transport sector on a single platform.
- It may be noted that the Government of India’s National Urban Transport Policy (NUTP)-2006, inter alia, lays emphasis on building capacities at the state and city level to address problems related to urban transport.
