- On 12 April 2016 the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has published its “World Economic Outlook, April 2016” report.
- The IMF’s latest World Economic Outlook now predicts global growth of 3.2% in 2016 and 3.5% in 2017.
- The current value is less than its earlier projection (January) by 0.2 and 0.1 percentage points respectively.
- According to the report, India will be the fastest growing major economy in 2016-17 growing at 7.5%, ahead of China, at a time when global growth is facing increasing downside risks, as per the World Economic outlook released by the IMF.
- According to the IMF the growth rate of the Indian economy is driven by private consumption and an increase in industrial activity.
