  • Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and prominent BJP leader, Anant Kumar passed away on 12th November, 2018, in Bengaluru battling with lung cancer. He was 59 years old.
  • He joined the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1987. He was six time parliamentarian from Bengaluru South constituency in Lok Sabha since 1996.




  • During his representation as State President of BJP in 2004 Assembly elections, the party emerged as the single largest party in Karnataka for the first time.
  • He held charge of two significant ministries in the Narendra Modi government – Chemicals and Fertilizers Ministry since May 2014 and Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs since July 2016.
