  • Kim Jong Yang of South Korea has been elected Interpol President at the 87th General Assembly of the Agency in Dubai.
  • Kim will hold the post of President for two years until 2020. While the President is usually elected for a period of four years, Mr Kim is completing the mandate of former President Meng Hongwei of China detained over corruption charges. Kim Jong Yang is Vice President of the organization since 2015.





  • It is worth to note that it was the first time that General Assembly of Interpole was held in UAE.
  • The Interpol General Assembly focused on the issues such as transnational organized crime, public security and safety as well as role of technology and artificial intelligence in the fight against terrorism.
