- The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) appointed Krishnamurthy Subramaniam as the new Chief Economic Advisor to the finance minister. He is appointed for the duration of 3 years. Krishnamurthy Subramaniam will succeed Mr. Arvind Subramaniam.
- Mr. Subramaniam is an associate professor in Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad. He is an alumni of top ranking IIT-IIM and had his PhD from Chicago-Booth.
- He delivered his services regarding the expert committees on Corporate Governance for the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and on Governance of Banks for The Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
- CEA (Chief Economic Advisor) advises Government of India on financial, economic and commercial policies. The CEA directly works under Ministry of Finance. The CEA is also an ex-officio cadre who controls the authority of IES (Indian Economic Services).
