  • On 13 February 2019, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a universal old age pension scheme Mukhyamantri Vridhajan Pension Yojna(MVPY) covering peoples above age of 60 years.
  • All senior citizens of the state will be provided 400 rupees monthly pension excepting retired government employees.
  • In addition to this, a pension of Rs 6,000 per month was also announced for journalists above 60 years under the Bihar Patrakar Samman Yojana (BPSY).Journalists served for 20 years and not availing any pension are eligible to be benefitted with scheme.
  • These ambitious schemes will implemented from 1st April 2019.
