- On 10 August, 2019; Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu launched the Jharkhand Government’s Mukhya Mantri Krishi Aashirwaad Yojana.
- The MMKAY scheme aims to ensure welfare and financial support to farmers in Jharkhand.
- The scheme has been incorporated in the state budget in financial year 2019-2020.
- This is the first scheme by the state government that provides 100 percent settlement through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) medium.
- Beneficiary farmers will get a minimum of Rs 5,000 and a maximum of Rs 25,000 per year under this scheme.
- This scheme for the Jharkhand farmers is apart from the Prime Minister’s Pradhan Mantri Krishi Yojana.
- Initially under the first phase of the MMKAY scheme, Rs 5000 will be disbursed to 13.60 lakh farmers for each acre of their land with a maximum amount of Rs 25,000.
- The amount will be directly transferred through Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) to the registered bank accounts on August 10.
- The remaining 22 lakh farmers will also be registered soon and the funds are expected to be transferred by October this year.
- In this way over 35 lakh farmers will be benefited by getting the assistance ever year from the government under this scheme.
