  • On November 9, 2015, the Liberian child rights activist M. Abraham Keita was awarded the International Children’s Peace Prize for the year 2015.
  • Abraham M. Keita received the prize from Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee at function  held at the Hague, in the Netherlands,
  • The 17-year-old was presented with the award for demanding justice for child victims of violence and for successfully campaigning for the Liberian parliament to adopt the children’s law.
  • He is the first person from Liberia to have been awarded this prize.
  • The prize was launched by KidsRights foundation during the 2005 Nobel Peace Laureates.
  • The prize has been presented every year by a Nobel Peace Laureate.
  • The winner receives the statuette ‘Nkosi’, which shows how a child sets the world in motion and  a project fund of €100,000
