- On 21 October 2020, Ministry of Civil Aviation has celebrated the UDAN day.
- The day marks the 4th anniversary of the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik) Scheme.
- In the pursuance of the National Civil Aviation Policy, 2016, the Government had launched the Regional Connectivity Scheme(RCS)-UDAN(Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) on 21 October 2016.
- RCS-UDAN, “Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik” aims to provide affordable, economically viable and profitable air travel on regional routes.
- 50 unserved and underserved airports (including 5 heliports) with 285 routes have been added under UDAN across the length and breadth of India.
- As the implementing agency, AAI has an ambitious plan to develop at least 100 airports/waterdromes/heliports by 2024 under the Scheme.
