- India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) 2015 was held for four days between 26 October and 29 October 2015 at Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex in New Delhi.
- The motto of the summit was “Reinvigorated partnership-Shared Vision”
- The India-Africa forum summit (IAFS) provides an official platform for the African-Indian relations and opportunity to forge a constructive and deeper alliance.
- It was organized by the African Union (AU) and the Government of India jointly.
- The first summit was held in 2008 in New Delhi and second summit was held at Addis Ababa, capital city of Ethiopia.
- On October 26, 2015 the start of the summit took place through official level discussions.
- The summit saw the participation from 54 African countries and the African Union leaders and delegates.
- On October 29, 2015 the Prime Minister of India addressed the Africa Forum Summit.
- On this occasion prime minister announced 10 billion US dollars of credit at concessional rate.
- He also announced a grant assistance of 600 million US dollars.
- It includes an India-Africa Development Fund of 100 million US Dollars and an India-Africa Health Fund of 10 million US dollars.
- He announced to provide scholarships to 50,000 African students and the expansion of the e-network in Africa and also to provide support for increasing the efficiency of the people of the country.
- On the sidelines of the India-Africa Forum Summit Prime Minister held bilateral meetings with African leaders.
- During this summit prime minister meet the president of Zimbabwe, Mr. Robert Mugabe and Chairperson of African Union, Mr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.
- They exchanged views on matters of common interest, including UN reform and the threat of terrorism.
- The Prime Minister talked about the bilateral relations between India and Zimbabwe.
- Robert Mugabe was the vice chairman of this summit.
- Moreover, the Prime Minister met South African President Jacob Zuma, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, Kenyan President Uhuru Kentyatta and also met with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.
- This is to be noted that political brotherhood and unity among India and Africa exists since several decades ago of 20th century.
- Logo of Third IAFS depicts a Lion with one half of an Indian lion and another half of African lion.
- In the background of logo, an African map is overlapped with Indian map as a reference to ancient Gondwanaland depicting Indian subcontinent was part of today’s Africa’s continental landmass.
- Officially the logo means “Proud, Courageous, Bold and on the Prowl, ready to take on the future and seize every opportunity”.
