Question : what is Bio-CNG fuel ?
a) methane rich compressed fuel
b) ethane rich compressed fuel
c) ethanol rich compressed fuel
d) none of these
Ans :a
Related Facts :
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today inaugurate “Gobar-Dhan (Bio-CNG) Plant” in Indore on February 18,2022.
- The plant is in line with PM Modi’s vision of creating “garbage-free cities” under the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0,
- The Gobar-Dhan plant, with a capacity to treat 550 tonnes of segregated wet organic waste per day, is expected to produce around 17,000 kg CNG and 100 tonnes of organic compost every day.
- Based on zero-landfill models, the plant will not generate rejects by maximising resource recovery.
- It is also expected to yield multiple environmental benefits like reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, providing green energy along with organic compost as fertilizer
- The project has been implemented by Indore Clean Energy Pvt Ltd
- IMC will purchase a minimum of 50% of CNG produced by the Gobar-Dhan plant.
- About Bio-CNG fuel :
- Bio-CNG, a methane rich compressed fuel, is also known as compressed biomethane.
- Bio-CNG is produced from pure biogas containing more than 97% methane at a pressure of 20–25 MPa.
- It is very similar to the regular CNG in terms of its fuel properties, economy, engine performance, and emissions.
- Biomethane from biogas can be liquefied to a fuel called liquefied biomethane (LBM)
- LBG which has the similar characteristics to LNG.
