  • The Jharkhand Government and the Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) on 5 January 2016 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) under the Ujjwal Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY) Scheme.
  • The MoU will help state government in electrifying remaining 2200 villages in state and make Union Government’s vision of providing 24×7 electricity supply to all a reality.
  • The Scheme UDAY was launched by the Government of India on 20th November, 2015 in consultation with various Stakeholders including States, DISCOMs, Banks and Financial Institutions.
  • It is started to ensure a sustainable solution to enable the Distribution utilities across the country to break out of a long standing Debts of almost Rs 4.3 Lakh crore.
