  • Sagarmatha Friendship-2 is the second joint Military Exercise between Nepal and China. This is a platoon level training that will be led by captains from Nepal Army and Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
  • It is a 10 days military exercise which will start from 17th September and will be held in Chengdu, the capital of China’s southwestern Sichuan Province.
  • This second joint military exercise aims at sharing experiences, skills and professional knowledge as well as sharing expertise in disaster management and fighting terrorism.
  • Around 15 personnel are likely to participate from both sides.

About Sagarmatha Friendship-1:

  • The first joint exercise was conducted at the Army’s Para Training School in Maharajgunj, Nepal in April 2017.
  • It has nursed in developing mutual understanding and cordiality between armies of both the countries to tackle the terrorist activities and strengthening military ties.

About Surya Kiran:

  • Nepal has been conducting battalion-level exercises named ‘Surya Kiran’ with the Indian Army for the last 13 years, engaging some 300 personnel from both sides.
