  • On 20 November 2015 for the 5th time Senior JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar was administered oath of office and secrecy by Governor Ram Nath Kovind as 35th Bihar Chief Minister.
  • Sworn in ceremony held at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan which was witnessed by opposition leaders from across the country.
  • It should be noted that on 8 November 2015 in the result declared by election commission the Grand Alliance won 178 of the 243 seats in the Bihar assembly.
  • With this the grand alliance led by Nitish Kumar was able to obtain an absolute majority.
  • Nitish Kumar for the first time in year 2000, took over as Bihar Chief Minister but he had resigned from his post after 7 days (the term from 3-3-2000 to 10-3-2000).
  • In 2005, for the second time and in 2010 for the third time, he had assumed the post of chief minister of state.
  • In 2014 he resigned from his position at the time when his party (JDU) disappointed with its performance in Lok Sabha election.
  • As result Jitan Ram Majhi took over as the chief minister of Bihar from 20.05.2014 to 22.02.2015.
  • But for the 4th time Nitish kumar resumed the office of chief minister on 22 February 2015 as Manjhi had revolted against Mr. Kumar.
  • In 2015 sate election, Lalu Prasad Yadav led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has won 80 seats, the highest in the state.
  • Lalu Yadav’s son Tejashwi Yadav is appointed as Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.
