  • The Lok Sabha had already passed the bill.
  • Under this bill NEET will be conducted in place for admission to medical and dental courses across the country from next year.
  • The bills provide for a Constitutional status to the ‘National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and seek to amend the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, and the Dentists Act, 1948.
  • This examination will be conducted in Hindi, English and some other languages.
  • Under the new system the entrance in private medical colleges will be taken through NEET examination.
  • It will be applicable for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
