Shamli District of Uttar Pradesh is Now Part of NCR

  • On December 4th, 2017 in the 37thmeeting of the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) chaired by Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State(IC), Housing & Urban Affairs, approved the inclusion of Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh in NCR.
  • Thus, now in the National Capital Region, 8 districts of Uttar Pradesh (Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar and Shamli) have been included.
  • It is worth mentioning that four states Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are included in National Capital Region.
  • Now in NCR there will be 23 districts (including Haryana 13, Uttar Pradesh 8 and 2 districts of Rajasthan) beside Delhi.
  • The NCR includes 13 districts (Faridabad, Guru Gram, Mewat, Rohtak, Sonepat, Rewari, Jhajjar, Panipat, Palwal, Bhiwani, Mahendergarh, Jind and Karnal) of Haryana and 2 districts of Rajasthan (Alwar and Bharatpur).
  • The NCR is one of the first experimental regions in the country.
  • This is a unique example of the Inter-State Regional Development Planing for the development of affiliated areas by keeping the national capital at the center.
