- On April 17th, 2018, Union Communications Minister Manoj Sinha launched a DARPAN PLI app in New Delhi.
- This app will be helpful in collection of installment of PLI and RPLI insurance policies.
- Through this, installments can be deposited in any post office in India.
- This will make possible of online updates to the policy and money collection.
- Through this app, maturity claims of the said insurance policies will be settled only at the post office branch.
- The Digital Advancement of Rural Post Office for a New India project has been implemented for the digitization of country’s postal services.
- The total Project cost is more than Rs.1300 crores.
- 61,941 Branch Post Offices have been rolled out under DARPAN Project.
- This aims to connect all 1.29 lakh Rural Branch Post Offices in the country, to enable them to do online Postal and Financial Transactions.
