  • In the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet meeting held on 5th June, 2018, it was decided to set up an Anti Power Theft Police Station in each district (total 75 districts) in the state for the prevention of electric theft.
  • The establishment of these stations under the Electricity Act, 2003 will be done for the purpose of preventing power theft under 5 discoms.
  • Upon the establishment of these stations, the practical difficulties in registering the complaint will be removed and the complaint will be registered with promptness.
  • Investigations of registered complaint can also be done effectively.
  • This will reduce the loss of line due to the prevention of power theft, increase in revenue in the form of quenching mitigation fee, and the goal of ‘Power for All’ can be obtained with in time.
