  • On 14th February, 2019 a deadliest attack took plaace by a suicide bomber who rammed his vehicle into a convoy of 78 vehicles carrying Central Reserve Police Force (on way from Jammu to Srinagar), killing 42 Jawans and injuring a dozen others in Pulwama (Jammu and Kashmir).
  • Pakistan based terrorist group Jaish-e- Mohammed (JeM) claimed the responsibility for the attack. Lone Kashmiri suicide bomber of JeM drove the vehicle carrying approx 250 kg explosives.

  • Jaish-e- Mohammed (JeM) is a Pakistan based terrorist group having links with several terror outfits including Taliban and al-Qaida whose primary motive is to separate Kashmir from India and merge it with Pakistan.
  • Since its inception in 2000, the terror outfit has carried out several attacks in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, which includes Pathankot airbase in January, 2016, and an army camp in Uri in September, 2016.
