- 31 August, 2015, The Central Statistics Office (CSO), Ministry of Statistics and ProgramImplementation has released the estimates of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first quarter (April-June) Q1, of 2015-16.
- Both are released at constant (2011-12) and current prices, along with the corresponding quarterly estimates of expenditure components of the GDP.
- GDP at constant (2011-12) prices in Q1 of 2015-16 is estimated at 27.13lakh crore, as against 25.35 lakh crore in Q1 of 2014-15, showing a growth rate of 7.0%.
- Quarterly GVA at Basic Price at constant (2011-2012) prices for Q1 of 2015-16 is estimated at 25.80lakh crore, as against 24.10 lakh crore in Q1 of 2014-15, showing a growth rate of 7.1% over the corresponding quarter of previous year.
- The economic activities which registered growth of over 7% in Q1 of 2015-16 over Q1 of 2014-15 are ‘manufacturing’, ‘trade, hotels and transport & communication and services related to broadcasting’ and ‘financial, insurance, real estate and professional services’.
- The growth in the ‘agriculture, forestry and fishing’ is 1.9%, ‘mining and quarrying’ is 4.0%, ‘electricity, gas, water supply & other utility services is 3.2%, ‘construction’ and ‘public administration is 6.9%,defense and other services’ is estimated to be 2.7%, ‘Trade, hotels and Transport & communication and services’ related to broadcasting is to be 12.8%, and ‘Financial, insurance, real estate and professional services’ is to be 8.9% during this period.
- Quarterly estimate of GVA at basic prices in Q1 (April-June) of 2015-16 at current prices in agriculture,forestry & fishing, 5%, 1.0% in mining & quarrying, manufacturing, 6.5%, electricity, gas, water supply and other useful services, 5.0%, 4.4% in construction, trade, hotels, transport and communications, and 10.3% in other services related to broadcasting, finance, real estate and business services by 6.3%, public administration, defense and other services increased by 8.9%.
