The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Conference 2016 is to be held at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, New Delhi from 08^th– 10^th January, 2016.
It is notable that this will be the 7th conference being held in New Delhi.
Previously it was held in 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2014.
New Delhi hosted the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) most number of times.
Important to know that 13th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas (PBD) concluded on 7-9 January 2015 in Gujarat.
It is known that a committee chaired by renowned legal expert Dr. Laxmimal Singhvi in the year 2000, it was decided to celebrate Pravasi Bhartiya Divas on 9th January.
This is because of the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa in Bombay on 9 January, 1915.
