- It is remarkable that the recently acknowledging the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation, fostering environmental stewardship and health, the General Assembly decided to declare 3 June World Bicycle Day.
- On this occasion, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu displayed a bicycle rally organized by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NMDC).
- The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that cycling is the best and cheapest form of exercise to keep our-self healthy and people must be encouraged to adopt such environment friendly mode of transport.
