  • Typhoon Mangkhut was originated near the International Date Line and traveled west ward, after crossing the Guam and Mariana it first touched the ground in Cagayan province of Philippines on Sunday.
  • Next destination was Hong Kong and neighboring Taiwan and some area of southern China. In the Philippines this typhoon is known as ‘typhoon Ompong’.

How a typhoon formed-

Like any tropical cyclone, there are six main requirements for typhoon formation:

  • Sufficiently warm sea temperature
  • Atmospheric instability
  • High humidity in the lower to middle levels of the troposphere
  • Enough Coriolis force to develop a low-pressure center
  • A pre-existing low-level focus or disturbance
  • Low vertical wind shear.
