  • On July 24, 2017, Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Sanjay Gandhi launched an online complaint management system called Sexual Harassment Electronics-box (SHE-box) to register complaints related to sexual harassment at work place.
  • This system has been developed to ensure the effective implementation of sexual harassment of women (Prevention, Prohibition and Diagnosis) Act, 2013 at the workplace.
  • Women employees of Central Government can file complaints related to their harassment at the workplace on this portal.
  • This portal will soon be made available to women employees working in the private sector also.
  • The Women and Child Development Ministry will conduct an all-India survey to assess the size of the problem related to sexual harassment of women at the workplace.
  • Significantly, according to the census of 2011, the number of women employees is 10.93 percent (3.37 lakh) of the total number of regular employees of the Central Government.
