- On September 15th, 2017, the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, launched a nationwide sanitation campaign, ‘Swachhta hi Seva’, at Ishwariganj village in Kanpur.
- On this occasion, he administered pledged to a new start in this direction in more than two and a half million village panchayats and cities whereby they resolved to create a clean, healthy and new India.
- This nationwide campaign will run from September 15 to October 2, 2017.
- Its purpose is to increase the participation of people in fulfilling the Mahatma Gandhi’s clean India dream.
- It is significant that on October 2, 2017, 3 years of ‘Clean India Mission’ are being completed.
- Different programs related to this campaign will be organized by all the Ministries of the Government of India.
