  • On February 26th, 2018 Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda launched ‘Viral Load Test’ for HIV / AIDS sufferers (PLHIV) at a function organized in New Delhi.
  • This initiative will ensure the free viral load test of 1.2 million PLHIV treated in the country at least once in a year.
  • After ‘Treat All’, Viral Load Test is a major step towards the treatment and monitoring of people suffering from HIV.
  • On this occasion, the Health Minister informed that in the year 2017, India had modified the antiretroviral therapy (ART) treatment protocol.
  • So that ‘Treat all’ can be launched for all PLHIVIs with ART.
  • At present, about 12 lakh PLHVs are taking advantage of free treatment in more than 530 ART centers.
