  • In reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik informed the House on 21st March, 2017, that a Committee has been set up to examine the working of the regulatory bodies namely, Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) and Central Council of Homoeopathy(CCH) and their governing legislations namely, Indian Medicine Central Council Act 1970 and Homoeopathy Central Council Act 1973 respectively, for suggesting suitable reforms.
  • The Committee is working under the Chairmanship of Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog. Its members are Additional Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), NITI Aayog and Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH.
  • Modern medical education is regulated through central regulatory body namely, Medical Council of India (MCI) set up under the provisions of Indian Medical Council (IMC) Act, 1956 through its subordinate regulations.
  • Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) and Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH) set up as per the provisions of Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970 and Homoeopathy Central Council Act, 1973 respectively are two regulatory bodies for AYUSH medical education.
