  • On 16 January 2017 INSEAD, The Business School for the World, released the fourth edition of Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI)-2017 in partnership with The Adecco Group and the Human Capital Leadership Institute of Singapore (HCLI).
  • The GTCI is an annual benchmarking report that measures the ability of countries to compete for talent.
  • The theme of this fourth edition of the GTCI is Talent and Technology: Shaping the Future of Work.
  • India has been ranked 92nd out of 118 nations in the 2017 Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI).
  • Switzerland topped the overall index, followed by Singapore and the United Kingdom in second and third places.
  • Others in the top 10 include the United States (4th), Sweden (5th), Australia (6th), Luxembourg (7th), Denmark (8th), Finland (9th) and Norway (10th).
  • Bottom five countries are : Madagascar-118, Burkinafoso -117, Zimbabwe-116, Mozambique-115, Tanzania-114.
  • Last year, India came in at 89th on the index.
  • India’s ranking is worst among the five BRICS countries. While China was ranked at the 54th place, Russian Federation was placed at 56th, followed by South Africa at 67th and Brazil 81st.
  • Among India’s neighboring country Sri Lanka ranked 82, Pakistan -111, Bhutan-98 and Bangladesh-113.
