  • On 2 February 2016 India’s first indigenously developed lightest revolver (gun) “Nidar” was successfully launched to boost the “Make In India” initiative.
  •  It has been designed and manufactured by the state-run Rifle Factory Ishapore of Indian Ordinace Factory located in West Bengal.
  • Nidar is a .22 Caliber revolver and the weighs 250 grams.
  • The gun comes with a cylinder capacity of eight bullets, a 40-mm barrel, a range 7 meters, and is only 140mm in length.
  •  It will cost Rs 36,000 for dealers (excluding Tax) and Rs 47,661 for individuals (including all taxes).
  • Two years ago, in January 2014, India had launched its “first gun for women”, Nirbheek the .32-calibre Nirbheek came with a weight of 525 grams and a price tag of Rs 1,22,360 manufcatured by the Indian Ordnance field gun Factory, Kanpur.
