  • ‘Climate Change Performance Index, 2018’ was released by Environmental organization- GermanWatch in November 2018.
  • This index was first released in the year 2005.
  • Sweden with 74.32 has been put on top (4th Rank) amongst the 56 countries and the EU in the Climate Change Performance Index of the year 2018, whilst last year France was at top rank.
  • Rank of the Sweden is 4th in the list because none of the countries achieved positions one to three as no one is doing enough to prevent dangerous climate change.
  • The first five top countries are Sweden (4th), Lithuania (5th), Morocco (6th), Norway (7th) and United Kingdom (8th).
  • India has been ranked 14th with 60.02 score in this index.
  • India marks an improvement of 6 places from its 20th rank in CCPI 2017.
  • This year India has been put in the high rating in the emissions and energy use categories whilst last year it had got a place in medium rating categories.
