- On June 22, 2018, the Ministry of Women and Child Development received the ‘Best Performing Social Sector Ministry’ SKOCH Award for its achievements and initiatives.
- Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi received this on the behalf of Ministry.
- On this occasion, discussing about the achievements of her ministry, she told in detail about the six months of maternity leave, sexual abuse law at the workplace, She Box, One Stop Centers, Universal Women Helpline (181), 33% Female Reservation in Police Recruitment.
- She also informed that recently on the request of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the Home Ministry has constituted a special department on women related issues.
- Simultaneously, the foundation of prestigious Sakhi Suraksha Advanced DNA Forensic Laboratory was laid in Chandigarh and Forensic Laboratories will be established recently in Guwahati, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune.
- He informed that now all the police stations and hospitals will be provided special forensic kits for rape cases.
