  • The bill was first introduced in the Rajya Sabha by the previous government in 2010, which was later referred to the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development. The committee has not submitted its report yet.
  • Some of the important provisions of the bill were- registration of architects, establishment of a Council of Architecture to prescribe minimum standards of architectural education in India and maintenance of the register of architects.
