  • The purpose of this summit is to enhance advance cooperation in the strategic partnership of India-EU and priority areas of India’s growth and development.
  • The EU was represented by Mr. Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, and Mr. Jean Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission.
  • India and European Union are strategic partners since 2004.
  • EU is India’s largest regional trading partner with bilateral trade in goods standing at US$ 88 bn in 2016.
  • The EU is also the largest destination for Indian exports and a key source of the investment and cutting edge technologies.
